1998 European Tour

In the summer of 1998 Cheap Trick traveled to Europe to play a short but energetic tour. Since they hadn't toured in Europe in many years, the shows sold out quickly as Trick-starved fans rushed to get tickets.

The tour started on July 11th at the Rock Vlaanderen festival in Ghent, Belgium and continued in Amsterdam on the 13th when they played at the landmark Melkweg. On the 14th they appeared at the legendary Astoria in London and on the 15th of July they finished the tour at Rock City in Nottingham, England.

The shows were spectacular and the audiences were extremely enthusiastic. The set list for the shows covered their amazing 25-year career, from the hits to band favorites. At Rock City in Nottingham, the legendary Roy Wood (The Move, ELO, Wizzard) joined the band onstage to play Cheap Trick's version of Roy's "California Man."

For now, I'll spare you detailed reviews of each show and let you move on to the good stuff - the photos! Click the links below for my concert photos from the Amsterdam, Ghent and Nottingham shows. I'd like to hear from you, so send me an if you have comments.

For an excellent review of the English part of the tour check out Kim Gisborne's web site for his story on the London and Nottingham shows.
