Our friend Walley in Amsterdam wrote me about this God Says No clip. It got my memory going and I finally located the actual date of the show where this footage was taken. The film is from a concert called Edgefest in Somerset, Wisconsin on May 28, 1995. The band and I called itd it "Mud Fest" because it had rained extensively before and during the show. The audience threw these sandy chunks of mud at ALL the bands that day - Faith No More, Ramones, KMFDM, Face to Face, etc. Just before Monster Magnet played the stage hands had to clean up the mud and dirt all over the place. MM went on but it was difficult for Dave because of all the mud pelting. He couldn't sing, he couldn't play guitar, the audience wasn't really listening, so he jumped off the stage during Spine of God and climbed up on a concrete barrier in front of the audience and just stood there so they could throw mud at him. He had his prized Strat with him and suddenly he threw the guitar (still plugged in) into the audience. He never saw that guitar again. After the show the promoters came to the Magnet bus and gave Dave $400 for the loss of the guitar. As for myself, I was filming the Magnet show and getting pelted just as much - especially when I went into the pit behind Dave. In the video you'll see a huge chunk fly straight at the camera. I almost got knocked over. Some of this footage appeared in the MM CD-ROM, "I Talk to Planets" without my consent (it wasn't the band's fault, just a thief who was working at A&M Records back then). Anyway, years later I made this video for God Says No from the mudfest footage - here it is for your enjoyment!

The Ribeye Brothers (current and former Monster Magnet members) were in town in September of 2003 (and the club burned down in 2004). Go HERE to check out photos from the show.
Here are a couple of video stills from the Chicago Metro show in May of 2002.
ROCK IS ALIVE: Spring, 2006 UPDATE. Thanks for the emails regarding the Monster Magnet stuff posted here. More to come, I assure you, but just wanted to say its cool when people say HELLO.
Here are some stills from the God Says No video...

Also! Here are photos of Monster Magnet's sold out appearance at the Double Door in Chicago from 31 August 2004. I wish I would have shot video of the show since they pulled out some old gems from the back catalog! Check out the set list, the live photos and the new ROCK IS ALIVE video projection clip we made for the US tour. BTW, for those of you who've seen the movie HIGH FIDELITY, you will recognize the Double Door from the scene where Jack Black's band plays at the CD release party. Yup. Same place. The store front that was the the record shop is just a couple blocks away. Anyway, here ya go:
